Module 7 – Construction

During construction, the District and its team continue to collaborate with the MSBA to report on the progress of the project and to confirm that it remains on schedule and within budget, and meets the expectation of both the District and the MSBA as defined in the Project Funding Agreement ("PFA").


The Lowell High School construction is broken into four phases:

  • Phase 1: The construction of the new gymnasium wing. Site work includes creating the new service driveway off of Arcand Drive.
  • Phase 2: The construction of the new Freshman Academy, addition to the southern end of 1980s building, replacement of the southern bridge, and gut interior renovation and exterior envelope upgrades in one section of the northern end of the 1980s building. Site work includes the new quad and landscaping around the building. 
  • Phase 3: The gut interior renovation and exterior envelope upgrades in renovation of the remaining areas of the 1980s building and the northern end of the 1920s building including interior renovation and updates in the Irish auditorium, and replacement and relocation of the northern bridge. Site work includes new landscape at the French Street building entry.
  • Phase 4: The gut interior renovation and exterior envelope upgrades in renovation of the remaining areas of the 1920s building. Site work includes remaining new landscape around the building.
